This
internship placement has provided extraordinary and invaluable insights into
the inner workings and functioning within the classroom environment for the
deaf and hard of hearing. Teaching High
School mathematics to deaf and hard of hearing children has proven to be quite
a challenge, but I absolutely love the job! Good working relationships have
been forged with my cooperating teacher, my 8th Grade Math mentor,
and all the other great teachers and staff that work within the high school
department. Starting from “scratch” and
without previous preparation or experience, I have learned the importance of
establishing a good performance tracking system to track student grades,
address behavioral issues, and maintain parent contacts.
Two
semesters of classroom internship experience have afforded a mere glimpse into
the teaching career upon which I am embarking.
As I continue to hone and refine my teaching skills, I look forward to a
satisfying and successful teaching career.
